Abstract:

For over 30 years, Israel has waged a shadow war against Iran. A major turning point occurred on June 13, 2025, with a massive attack on Iranian territory, certainly with military objectives, but also with a political aim: to destabilize the Islamic Republic. Furthermore, the outbreak of the conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran in February 2026 generated geopolitical and economic instability. Thus, this article aims to analyze the dynamics of the arenas of confrontation between the US-Israeli bloc and Iran, and the challenges of resolving these tensions. The approach is based on documentary research drawing on existing data and official sources, together with eight original maps of the Middle East. The findings show that these confrontations stem from a twofold rivalry, between Israel and Iran and then between the United States and Iran, in an area holding nearly half of the world’s oil reserves. US-Israeli bombing struck some twenty Iranian localities and destroyed civilian and industrial infrastructure, while the Iranian response targeted seven Gulf states and around twenty American bases. All attempts at resolution failed, the deadlock of the Islamabad talks leading to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The study concludes that this war is less a one-off military clash than a structural struggle for regional hegemony, whose effects extend well beyond the Middle East.
